Vintage Chevron Christmas Tree.

tree college

My mom has conquered cancer four times both breast and lymphoma. It started 20 years ago when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer followed by lymphoma. This summer during her regular mammogram they found a suspicious lump, it was cancer. A double lumpectomy and 16 radiation treatments later, she is a survivor!

This tree is inspired by all of those moms out there who receive similar news after a routine mammogram. I wanted to use pink chevron in my pillows and tree shirt because to me pink chevron represents, youth, life and happiness. Young and youthful needs a balance of sophistication which is why we used vintage mercury glass ornaments.

This year we are donating our pink chevron pillows, love pillow and tree shirt to The United Way’s Festival of Tree’s Event. 100% of the Proceeds from this event benefit the Cancer Patient Fund and the United Way of Central VA. Hope that there is an excellent turn out to this event and that money is raised for this great cause!

Boo Y’all!

Boo Y’all!
Today I have a confession to share with you. I don’t always like decorating for a holidays. There I said it…maybe you think because I write a blog, and make all kinds of home decor items I would love to decorate, but I have a hard time keeping up with the everyday mess and by decorating my house for a holiday at the end of the day, just means more work, and I am tired all ready. So I have held out and not decorated for Halloween the past few years, but after five years of bagging, my sweet husband finally convinced me to give our house the Halloween touch. Honestly, I don’t think I had a single original idea while decorating; I just followed the queen of Halloween Decorations Martha Stewart’s play list, and boy is her play list fun.

It is really simple, take beautiful arrangements and make them spooky with creepy-crawly spiders, bats, goblins, snakes, and skeletons. Here are a few of my favorite arrangements.

OK this chandelier is a little spooky, but my kids love it! I have always hated this chandelier so any chance I get to decorate it I do. Fabric web is so cheap! (averages about a $1 per package and can be found at any dollar/Halloween store this time of year) I bought a bag of skeletons and zombies for a couple bucks. And this chandelier is done!

I am Rebekah Moody the owner/creator of Southern Loom. I have a love of design, and all things that inspire us to live our finest life! I am a wife and mother of 3 kids, 2 young boys and a sweet baby girl. Prior to becoming a design professional I spent a decade in real estate. I’ve walked through thousands of homes and durning that stage of my life I developed an eye for design.I started sewing when I was six years old, I became a professional seamstress/ interior designer 4 years ago. My love of fabric came about when my grandfather passed at the age of 101 and I inherited fabric that was collected over the span of 85 years. I enjoy taking old designs and making them new. We pride ourselves in one of a kind embroidered designs along with custom table runners, pillows and chair covers. Over the years our company has grown, we have 4 employees on staff at Southern Loom, 2 sewers, a marketing director, and a furniture painter for our store space at Black Dog Salvage in Roanoke Virginia.
